Basnet: Unprecedented measures for the economic isolation of the Islamic Republic are on the way
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant announced that the Donald Trump administration will announce a series of extensive and new measures against the Islamic Republic next week.
Bessant said in an interview with Newsmax: "Wait for more announcements next week, because we will take measures that have not been seen in the history of the economic isolation of a country."
He added that Washington will target bank accounts, digital currency wallets and other assets related to the Islamic Republic around the world and try to cut off the flow of money to the government and its officials.
According to the US Treasury Secretary, these measures will be followed simultaneously with the continued pressure on the commercial and financial routes of the Islamic Republic to make the entry and exit of money and goods more difficult for Tehran.
Bessant's statements indicate the possibility of a significant intensification of the Trump administration's economic campaign against the Islamic Republic in the coming week.
